It's a beautiful area with so much to do. We decided to walk down from our hotel which was very close so it was a nice walk. My only problem was that as the sun set and it got later it seemed to turn from family fun to ghetto city. The shops were nice and very inexpensive for souvenirs, food was extremely expensive and the boardwalk food wasn't very good especially for its price.
Overall I say during the day its nice for a walk and to pick up souvenirs, I wouldn't plan on eating at any of the small boardwalk places dine in restaurants may be a different story but most were bars and there were a lot of people that were drunk outside them , and you're there as a family keep close watch on your children and dont go after dark. We did however walk back to our hotel down on the beach along the shoreline. It was not overcrowded and was a nice walk with a gorgeous view.
