Part of what makes temptation so irresistible is its self-sufficing element. Temptation is different for each individual person, based on his or her own particular interests, which means that what tempts me may be completely different than that of which another individual may be compelled.
For example, a serial dater may be tempted by the idea of finding love, and therefore may never fully realize that continuously bouncing from relationships is counterproductive. Similarly, a person who is so driven to succeed may be so enthralled with the idea that he or she aimlessly imagines it happening, rather than implementing a plan of action.
I find it rather peculiar that each temptation comes in its own shape and form; some have even labeled this as the plight of an evil force possibly even the devil. Sometimes, however, we manifest our own temptations by yearning for alternate lives, which may not even be conducive to our existence. Still, we continue to indulge and seek out that which dulls our senses, granting us temporary immunity from whatever current situation lingers.
What is even more perplexing is the ability that we, as human beings, possess to observe and analyze. In terms of where that lies in the realm of temptation, we have the ability to recognize what tempts us. Therefore, we know exactly what that temptation can potentially yield and in contrast, what makes a conscious decision to defy that analysis to indulge in whatever allure. Why is this? Perhaps it is sorrow that drives us to oblige temptation. That sorrow can engulf us and when a person does not know how to handle it properly, it can lead to a quest for an outlet.
Everyone intrinsically feels sorrow, whether you have lost a loved one are concerned with self-inadequacy or even with the general plight of mankind. Thus, humans are always seeking pleasure.
Therein lies the intoxicating mental telepathy your brain exhibits in pursuit of finding this pleasure. Aside from the inherent ability of man to seek pleasure, we all fall victim to our temptations because they help us to escape. We all have vices that we use to fill a void of some sort. What I am specifically referring to here is life : pain, despair, shame, isolation.
All of these humanize us. However, one must inquire as to whether or not this is at all a righteous cause for sinning.
Scriptures remind us that Satan is the father of all lies and the love of money is the root of all evil Moses ; 1 Timothy Poor understanding of physical, spiritual, and other laws.
From a tribal perspective, everything has a purpose in nature, in spirit, and in time. The most dangerous rationale for the universe is when humans blame and curse others for something that was always supposed to be. It depends on your individual life purpose and harmony.
We wonder why G-d would allow harm to come to the vulnerable or the innocent. Within them is a potential for a positive outcome — a potential for good. Weathering adversity by staying connected to G-d and developing resilience are incredibly important character traits.
Yet most of us would not choose harsh circumstances to develop our character. The entire Book of Job is devoted to this question.
Everything comes from G-d: good and bad. For those who deeply care, ask G-d. Have faith that G-d will answer you. This happens because God creates us with free will, which he gives to us out of love, and because without free will, no genuine love is possible. God did not and does not create anything evil; both angels and humans, as well as the material world, are good and beautiful. However, rational creatures can choose to direct their freedom against God and by this means create evil.
Basil the Great once wrote that evil is not a living substance, but a condition of the soul which is opposed to virtue. We can embrace virtue and discover this for ourselves. We perceive these relative gradations and some seem bad or good depending on our perspective and maturity. Overcoming tests advances our spiritual capacities; however, some afflictions are tremendously severe. Humanity must recognize that division and adherence to base materialistic values causes suffering.
The other is natural calamity, events that overpower our lives, from which none is immune. However, humanity has the tools and capacity to nearly eliminate these outcomes if it chooses. It is only through the inequality of the world, the wasting of resources, prejudice, the inflexibility of nations, and elevating our lower natures that these events have such tragic impact.
First, humans are cut off from God as a result of sin. This began with Adam and Eve and has continued unceasingly throughout history. Sin damages our conscience so we do not objectively know the difference between right and wrong. Sin also results in selfishness so we wound those around us.
And sin scars our self-image so we think less of ourselves than God intended. All of these results from sin lead to "bad things" in life.
A second reason for "bad things" is Satan. Satan exists to "steal and kill and destroy" John On a daily basis Satan and his demonic legions wreak havoc throughout the world. A third reason for "bad things" is we live in a broken world. Sin has permeated the earth which results in catastrophes such as hurricanes and earthquakes. Different sources produce different bad things.
Historically the standard conception of God is of a being omnibenevolent all good.
